Welcome to the web site for the
Oregon Kayak & Canoe Club
The OKCC has a lot of great activities going on in 2010. There are Beginner and Intermediate Progression trips nearly every month of the year. Typically, the Beginner Progression trips are the third Sunday of the month, and the Intermediate Progression trips are the fourth Sunday of the month. There are also many fun and interesting clinics happening this year. To learn more about the Progression trips or the clinics, go to the Classes page of the web site.
To find out when any of the club's activities are happening, including Progressions, clinics, pool sessions, picnics, river clean-ups, or other paddling or social activities, go to the Calendar page.
Roaring River Slalom |
|
The 2010 Roaring River Slalom is fast approaching! It is Saturday and Sunday, August 28th and 29th on the Clackamas River near Roaring River. (Above Fish Creek) The course will be set up on Friday. Saturday is a practice day, and there's a slalom clinic led by Paul Kuthe from Alder Creek. Sunday will be the timed runs and Slalom Race #6 of the Northwest Cup Series. Volunteers are needed to help with this event. For more information, contact Carl Poston .

Clackamas River Clean-Up |
|
The 8th Annual Down the River Clean-Up on the Clackamas River is Sunday, September 12th. Registration is due to open the first week in August. This is a great annual event where hundreds of pounds of garbage is cleaned from the river. There are typically some vendors, bbq, live music, and a raffle. This is a great event to participate in. For more information, go to www.welovecleanrivers.org.

The OKCC website is undergoing a major update and renovation. The Pool Sessions, Classes, and Access pages are all new. There are more new pages coming that we hope will be helpful and interesting to the members, so be sure to check back often. Almost every page has had some updates completed, and much more work is still being done. Our goal is to make this web page useful to the members by being able to easily access current water levels, learn where the nearest pool session is, find out about a class to improve your skills, learn new safety skills, find a manufacturer, get a river permit, or learn how to connect with others in the paddling community. Your feedback and help to make this site better is much appreciated by contacting the webmaster.
Members may join the OKCC online mailing list to learn about club trips and events, river hazards, items for sale, and more. To join the Yahoo online mailing list, and to learn about other ways to get in touch with the local kayaking community online, please visit the Online Community section of this website.
